SDE Software Development & Engineering Courseware Project Pilot 1
The purpose of this project is to develop a library (the SDE library) of reusable courseware components covering a wide variety of topics in the fields of Software Engineering and Software Development in general. This courseware is divided into the following:
● Courses: Collections of modules based on common high-level themes, such as Object-Oriented Design or Project Cost Estimation. ● Modules: Collections of topics based on common intermediate-level themes, such as the Booch methodology for Object-Oriented Design or the COCOMO model for estimating project cost. ● Topics: Signle Powerpoint files, each containing a presentation on one particular low-level theme, such as the symbols used by the Booch methodology for Object-Oriented Design or the definition of an object according to the Booch methodology. ● In addition, each topic may be supplemented by video clips, documents or papers (prepared using Microsoft Word), sample program files, software development tools, documentation development tools, and other material. ● The SDE Courseware Project is run by an Editorial Board, all members of which have had a significant amount of experience in developing and distributing courseware in electronic form. See the SDE FAQ for more details on the project and its motivation. ● The SDE Library (and CDROM) is designed to be used by educators, students, software engineers, and software developers in general. See the SDE FAQ for a list of applications for the SDE Library.
