Description (Back)

Cleverly disguised as a book, this is actually the largest collection of UNIX-related freeware on CD-ROM. The two ISO-9660 CD-ROMs contain 5000 megabytes of source code and documentation, stored as compressed archives.

We have included some of the finest software available, tools that every UNIX programmer should have: compilers, interpreters, libraries, programming tools, GUI builders, and more.

Nor have we forgotten applications for the users! We have multimedia editors, spreadsheets, database systems, text processing and Internet access tools, CAD systems, mail readers, games - well, you get the idea...

This software is obtained from archives around the world. PTF searches the Internet for interesting packages, locates current copies, organizes and annotates them, then delivers them in this convenient and economical format.

As one of our customers wrote:

"I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the next PTF Disc(s). You should include one or two hard disks with every CD so people have the space to compile all those wonderful things."
Continued Inside
